Starting My New Robotics Project with Blender, Claude, and 3D Printing

Following my previous post, I’ve officially started working on my new robotics project. 🤖

I decided to start with the mechanical design, because this project involves many complex parts, and the calculations and dimensions need to be highly accurate to ensure that every mechanical component fits and connects precisely.

While designing the robot in Blender, I was genuinely impressed by what Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5 was able to do. I connected Claude to Blender through an MCP server, and the results were incredible.

Boom! 💥

Claude was able to help create production-ready 3D parts and significantly accelerate the design process. It completely changed the way I approached this stage of the project and made something that would normally take a lot of manual effort much faster and more interactive.

Now, the design is complete, and I’ve already 3D-printed the parts. Seeing the digital design turn into real physical components is one of the most exciting parts of the process.

I’ve also started ordering all the components I need to build the robot. Once everything arrives, I’ll share the parts one by one, explain what each component does, why I chose it, and where I got it from.

This is just the beginning.

From kinematics and mechanical design → 3D printing → electronics → control systems → intelligence, I’m documenting the entire journey.

More to come. 🚀🤖
